Lot-EK

LOT/EK’s projects have ranged from collaborations and installations with artists; through interiors, townhouses, and houses for families; through cultural projects for such clients as The Whitney Museum of Art and The Guggenheim Museum, through commercial projects for such clients as Puma and Band of Outsiders; to institutional projects for such clients as Google and TK. LOT-EK’s international practice has developed projects from their hometown of New York, around the world from Queensland, Australia, through Huangshan, China, to London, England. LOT/EK’s work has been featured in publications from The New York Times to Dwell. LOT/EK’s second monograph, O+O: OBJECTS + OPERATIONS, was recently published by The Monacelli Press; and their first monograph, URBAN SCAN, was published by The Princeton Architectural Press.

LOT/EK’s founding partners are Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano. They live and work in New York City. They grew up in Naples, Italy. They have known each other since the age of 16. They have been in professional practice together since 1993. They teach design at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP) in New York City, where they completed post-graduate studies after professional training in Architecture and Urban Design from the Universita’ di Napoli in Naples. Ada and Giuseppe’s work has received awards and accolades—from the Emerging Voices Forum from the Architecture League of New York to The New York American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Awards. LOT/EK’s work is in included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
In December 2011, Ada and Giuseppe were recognized as USA Booth Fellows of Architecture & Design by United States Artists (USA).
